LT GEN YVK MOHAN, AVSM, SM, VSM
1. Lieutenant General Yenduru Venkata Krishna Mohan, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal, Vishist Seva Medal was commissioned into Gorka Rifles Regiment of the Indian Army on 19 Dec 1981. He is an alumnus of the Sainik School, Korukonda, National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. The General Officer holds Master of Science (Defence & Strategic Studies) from Madras University and Master of Philsophy degree from Devi Ahilyabhai University, Indore. He has attended all prestigious courses in the Army including the Staff Course at Defence Services Staff College, Higher Command Course at Army War College and the Course from the prestigious Royal College of Defence Studies, Seaford House, London (UK). The General Officer is well travelled and has visited several foreign countries on various military assignments.
2. In his variegated military career, the General Officer has held varied command, staff and instructional appointments wich include command of BM of an Infantry Brigade, Colonel MS of Corps Headquarters, DACIDS (AFTI) and ACIDS (Jt Ops) at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff. The General Officer has been Assistant Military Attache / Officer In-charge at Indian Embassy, Nepal besides serving on instructional assignments at National Defence College and Defence Services Staff College. The General Officer also holds the unique distiction of being the Commandant of the prestigious National Defence College. He commanded a Mountain Division on the Northern Borders and was awarded Vishist Seva Medal for his admirable and distinguished leadership. Prior to taking over as Commandant, Defence Services College, the General Officer commanded a Corps on the Western Border and was awarded Ati Vishishit Seva Medal for his exceptional contribution and stellar command.
3. The General officer is happily married to Mrs Geetha and they have two children. Daughter, Shruti (30 years) is happily married and settled in Gujarat. Son, Sai Saketh (24 years) has recently completed Master and employed in USA.
4. Mrs Geetha Mohan graduated from Rajendra Agriculture Universtity, Hyderabad. She has been a house maker and a truly service officer’s wife moving place to place with her husband. She keenly practices Yoga and interested in cooking and gardening. She has experience of being a teacher and Principal of Army Primary School. While posted at Indian Embassy Nepal, she was closely associated with welfare activities for Veer naris and their wards which made a positive impact of Indian Army’s activities for Ex Servicemen and widows in Nepal.
